Artwork guide

Your logo becomes a raised, solid shape in a second colour. That is different from printing ink on a surface, so a few things matter more than usual. Here is what works and what does not.

Best files

  • SVG or PDF with solid, filled shapes. These print with the crispest edges.
  • PNG or JPG work too. We trace the dark parts of the image into solid shapes and show you the traced result before you add it to your basket. A clean, high-contrast image traces best.

What prints well

  • Solid shapes, bold lettering, crests, icons.
  • Logos with one colour, or ones that still make sense in one colour.
  • Lines and gaps of at least 0.8 mm at the printed size. On a keyring the logo area is about 30 by 22 mm, so very fine detail will blur.

What does not print

  • Gradients, shadows and photographs. The logo is one colour, raised; there is no shading.
  • Hairline strokes and very small text. Below about 0.8 mm the printer cannot form the shape.
  • Logos that depend on a second or third colour to be readable. Two colours per piece: the base and the logo.

Colours

The colours offered on the product page are the colours loaded on our printers right now. Choose a base and a logo colour with strong contrast: a dark base with a light logo, or the other way round.

Rights to the logo

By uploading a logo you confirm you are allowed to have it reproduced. We print what you send; we do not check trade marks.

Still unsure?

Upload it and look at the preview. It costs nothing, and the preview tells you honestly whether the logo will print. If you would like a human opinion first, send us the file.
